The STEMpowerment Story

 

STEMpowerment Coaching was founded with the goal of empowering students from populations underrepresented in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to explore career pathways and overcome potential barriers throughout their journey. We empower first-generation, Latinx, Black, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+ communities and other individuals by providing access to resources, information, opportunities and knowledge throughout critical processes in their journey.

The STEMpowerment Coaching Team is passionate about leading others to success in their careers. We want to use what we have learned from our experiences and the resources that empowered us in our journeys to guide and advice future generations of STEM professionals.

How does it work?

 

Set goals.

Together, you and your coach will define short-term and long-term goals based on your interests.

Create a plan.

Your coach will create a plan with a timeline to achieve set goals. The plan adapts to your needs, schedule and pace of progress.

Engage with the plan.

Trust your coach, make choices and transform them into action. Find opportunities to engage with, and adjust goals and plans as you learn and progress.

Be STEMpowered.

Gain confidence in making decisions about your preparation for a career in STEM. Be empowered to explore pathways. Take ownership of your journey!

 

Why should I join?

  • Coach with first-hand experience.

    The advice and guidance integrated in the coaching is informed by first-hand experiences as a first-generation, Latinx woman in STEM. These experiences, combined with an expertise in science education, can help YOU navigate STEM.

  • Personalized coaching.

    Every part of the coaching process is tailored to you. Goals are defined according to your interests. Plans are intentionally flexible to account for your needs, skills and schedule. Everything is adjusted as you advance in the coaching program.

  • Accountability and guidance.

    For many, accountability is key for achieving goals; and, for others, guidance is key. Having a personal coach does both, it facilitates accountability and provides guidance throughout your STEM journey.
